Privacy policy

Effective

This policy explains how the people operating Jersey (“we”) collect, use, share and protect personal information when you use Jersey, your AI career assistant, on the web, by email or in an app. What Jersey keeps is the short version.

Information we collect

  • Account details. Your email address, sign-in records and the settings you choose.
  • What you share. Your messages, the career history and goals you describe, files and documents you upload, emails you forward to Jersey, and your practice answers. This can include sensitive details if you choose to share them.
  • What Jersey creates with you. Facts kept from your conversation, jobs and their status, documents, research notes, practice feedback and summaries.
  • Voice. When you speak to Jersey, your audio is turned into text and then deleted. We keep the text.
  • Technical records. Records of what Jersey tried, including tool requests, results and errors; basic request and device information such as IP address and browser type; and records of the agreements and permissions you gave and when.
  • Cookies and storage. Cookies that keep you signed in and remember that you joined, and browser storage for your display preferences. If you open a page someone shared from Jersey, a cookie remembers which page for 30 days, so that if you join we can count that the page brought you; it isn’t set when your browser asks not to be tracked. We use no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

How we use it

  • To provide Jersey: hold the conversation, keep what you tell it, search for jobs, prepare documents and practice, and send the emails and notifications you choose.
  • To keep Jersey safe and working: authenticate you, prevent abuse, fix errors and, during the beta, review conversations and technical records for quality and safety as the beta agreement describes.
  • To communicate with you about your account, security and changes to Jersey or this policy.
  • To meet legal obligations and enforce our terms.

We do not sell your personal information, share it for advertising, or use it to train AI models.

AI providers and your permission

Jersey is built on AI from other companies. Before Jersey sends your personal information to them, it asks for your permission and names them. Anthropic’s Claude models write Jersey’s replies, documents and searches; Cloudflare’s Workers AI turns your voice into text and reads practice questions aloud. Each receives only what the task in front of it needs.

These providers process your information to provide Jersey for us, under terms that do not allow them to train their models on it. They may keep it for a limited time under their own policies, for example to detect abuse.

Jersey can’t work without them, so your permission is required to use the conversation. You can withdraw it by deleting your account, and you can still export or delete your information without giving it. If we add an AI provider, we’ll ask again first.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only as needed to run Jersey, with these service providers:

  • Anthropic. AI provider. Its Claude models write Jersey’s replies, documents and job searches. It receives your messages and the career details, jobs, documents and files each task needs. Their privacy policy
  • Cloudflare. AI provider, hosting and email. Workers AI turns your voice into text and reads practice questions aloud. Cloudflare also hosts the website and app, runs Jersey’s servers, and sends and receives Jersey’s email, including messages you forward and their attachments. Their privacy policy
  • Supabase. Database, file storage and sign-in. Holds your account, email address and everything Jersey keeps for you. Their privacy policy
  • Sentry. Error monitoring. Receives technical error reports with message text, addresses and other personal details removed. Staging error reports may include an approximate city, region and country derived by Sentry, not precise device location. Their privacy policy
  • GitHub. Private issue records about problems found during beta review or reported by you. Their privacy policy

When you share a page Jersey wrote, anyone with its link can read that page until you stop sharing it. They see the page, not your name or the rest of your conversation.

When Jersey searches for jobs, job boards and search services receive search terms such as job titles and a place, never your name. Notifications you turn on pass through your browser’s or device’s push service. We send something under your name, such as an application or email, only after you confirm it.

We may also disclose information when the law requires it, to protect people’s safety or rights, or as part of a merger, sale or similar transfer, in which case this policy continues to apply to it.

How long we keep it

  • Your conversation, kept facts, jobs, documents, files and practice stay until you remove them or delete your account.
  • Audio is deleted once it is turned into text. A recorded interview’s raw transcript is deleted after 30 days.
  • Technical records behind Jersey’s replies are deleted 30 days after the session ends.
  • A conversation started without an account is deleted after 72 hours unless you save it.
  • Email waiting for verification or acceptance is held for up to seven days.
  • Beta review findings in private GitHub records may remain after your account is deleted. Reviewers are instructed to leave out personal details.

Your choices and rights

  • Correct or remove. Edit or Don’t keep any fact Jersey kept, or ask Jersey to forget something.
  • Export. Download your account data and documents from Your data.
  • Delete. Delete your account and the information held with it from Your data or Settings.
  • Email. Optional emails are off unless you choose them; change them in Settings or unsubscribe.

Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict some uses, to withdraw consent, and to complain to your data protection authority. Email us to use any of these rights. We’ll respond within the time the law requires and won’t treat you differently for using them.

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we process your information to provide the service you asked for, with your consent for the AI providers and beta review, for our legitimate interests in keeping Jersey secure and working, and to meet legal obligations.

Age requirement

Jersey is for people 18 and older, and asks you to confirm your age when you join. We don’t knowingly collect information from anyone younger. If we learn that someone under 18 has an account, we will delete it. If you believe this has happened, email us.

Security and where data is processed

Each account’s information is kept separate, encrypted in transit, and available only to that person and to authorized review as described above. No system is perfectly secure, so please don’t share passwords or payment details with Jersey.

We and our providers process information in the United States and other countries where they operate. Where the law requires it, transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

Changes to this policy

We’ll post any change here with a new effective date. If a change is material, or adds an AI provider, we’ll tell you and ask for your agreement before it applies to you.
